  • Summer Concert in the Park

Endless Summer of ‘23 allowed us to get together for a concert in Pan American Park. We had a great time with a live band, food truck and bounce houses for the kids. This event was funded by Lakewood Village Neighborhood Association.

The membership heard presentations from Councilwoman Kerr, LBPD, Public Works and LBCC.Updates were given on Concert in the Park, Community Watch, SB 9 & 10, Dog Waste Stations, the budget, and general LVNA activities.

New Officers were elected: Jeannine Ball - President David & April See - Co Vice Presidents Ginny Baxter - Secretary Andrew Young - Treasurer

New bylaws were approved, and over 80 were in attendance.

  • Council District 5 Boundaries

Council District 5 changed dramatically in 2022, with an east/west orientation, instead of north/south that had been drawn in the past. As such, we lost many of our former east Long Beach neighborhoods, while gaining areas such as Los Cerritos, Bixby Knolls and California Heights. The Board members of LVNA met with the leadership of these new district 5 groups on several occasions, to gain understanding of mutual concerns and build support for our newly formed district.

  • Dog Waste Stations

Lakewood Village Neighborhood Association funded and installed 5 dog waste stations throughout the Village. These stations are also being replenished, courtesy of your association volunteers.

  • Meet the Mayor & Councilperson

Mayor Rex Richardson and Councilwoman Megan Kerr joined us for a 3 hour evening of food and discussion of city issues. LVNA hosted, and was joined by numerous other District 5 neighborhood associations. Mayor Richardson discussed his top priorities for the City.

  • Candidate Forums

Lakewood Village Neighborhood Association hosted 2 major candidate forums in ‘22 for our council district 5 and mayor. All of the candidates participated in a healthy discussion of their goals for the city. Questions were impartial and solicited from the community.
